TV Review: Monster in my pocket.

Release date: 1992.

Story: Deep within a mountain in Transylvania, Doctor Henry Davenport (a.k.a the Invisible Man) and his friends (Frankenstein's monster, Mummy, and Wolfman) have managed to capture all of the evil monsters and have placed them behind bars. But one of the evil monsters (Vampire) tries to escape with the help of a shrinking spell. But the spell backfires and shrinks all of the monsters and the mountain instead. And then the mountain teleports to Los Angles. Which causes all of the bad monsters to escape. Now the Invisible Man and his friends have to go and recapture them. Especially Vampire, Medusa, and Swamp Beast. But it isn't easy when they are one inch high. So the good monsters decide to visit a famous horror writer in order to get some help. But the writer is away. Apart from his daughter Carrie. Who decides to help the good monsters in their fight against the evil ones. While also trying to find a way of regaining their normal height.

My thoughts: This one off special, named the Big Scream, was the pilot for a cartoon series based on the toy line of the same name. And it is indeed a good special. It is such a shame that this didn't get a series. yet there are rumours of five or six more episodes that were created. But they are either extremely difficult to find or non-existent. I like the character designs as well. Frankenstein's monster is renamed Big Edd and looks like Franken-berry from the American cereal brand (and also has this thing were every time he gets angry, sparks fly from his head), Wolfman has a Jamaican accent, Swamp Beast is just a large blob type of creature that can separate into other versions of himself, and the Invisible Man is without his bandages (properly so that he won't be mistaken for Mummy). If this had a series, I would have liked to see them encountering other good or bad monsters (including Warlock. Who is a fan favourite). Also it is a cool concept that while trying to find a way of regaining their height, the good monsters discover that they can active that by laughter and the bad monsters can grow back through screams. This special is available on Youtube and I would recommend that you check it out.

Film Review: Godzilla (2014).

Release date: May 8th 2014 (Dolby theatre release). May 16th 2014 (US release).

Story: After a horrible accident that killed his mother fifteen years ago, US Marine bomb disposal expert Ford Brody returns home to be with his family. Yet he is called to come and collect his father in Japan who has been caught trespassing in an quarantine zone. It turns out that his father (named Joe) believes that the accident wasn't an accident and that something else had caused it. And it turns out that he was right when two giant monsters (named Mutos) have awakened and are rampaging across America. Yet there is hope for mankind. And it comes in the form of another giant monster... named Godzilla.

My thoughts: This is a very great movie. The characters may be on the dull side (apart from Joe Brody) but it's Godzilla and the Mutos that make up for it. Apart from the small amount of time that the monsters are on screen (everyone keeps complaining that the movie concentrates more on the people instead of the kaijus and also that it keeps cutting away from the kaiju action. Yet there are other Godzilla films that do the same. And others where Godzilla shows up even less then in this movie), it is still a great film. Godzilla looks impressive, the Mutos look cool, and the build up to these monsters is great. It's sequel (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) is already in cinemas and I would highly recommend you go and see it.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: Godzilla (1998).

Release date: May 20th 1998.

Story: There have been increasing reports of ships being attacked by an unknown menace. Nobody knows who or what is that cause of the attacks. But it turns out to be a very huge threat indeed. And it is heading towards New York city.

My thoughts: This was America's first attempted to create a Godzilla film. And it didn't turn out so well. This film was hated by Godzilla fans and even by members of Toho itself. But I have to say that I like the design of the monster itself. It's not Godzilla but it is a cool looking kaiju in it's own right. In fact Toho brought this monster and renamed it Zilla and it even appeared in two other Godzilla films. Well the first one was a breath mentioning in G.M.K: Giant monsters all out attack (where a group of students were talking about recent Godzilla sightings. One of them mentions about an attack in New York city and that the Americans claimed that it was Godzilla. But the other students are no so sure). And the other one was in Godzilla Final Wars. Where Zilla was quickly defeated by Godzilla in Sydney. Like I said this film may be a bad Godzilla film, but it is a good kaiju film.

My score: Three stars.

Gaming Reviews: Godzilla (PS4).

Release date: July 14th 2015 (North American release). July 16th 2015 (Japanese release). July 17th 2015 (Europe release).

Type of game: Kaiju simulator, monsters, action.

Story: Many years after Godzilla first rampaged across Japan, the Japanese have harnessed Godzilla's energy (G-Energy as they call it) and stored them in huge turrets named G-Energy Generators. In an attempted to create a better energy source for the country. But then Godzilla resurfaces and starts to attack the generators in order to get his energy back.

My thoughts: This is my first ever game that I've played on the PlayStation 4. And I like it a lot. There are three selections that you can choose from. God of Destruction (the main game), King of the monsters (where you can choose a kaiju other than Godzilla and battle six monsters. Each getting harder as you progress), And a online multiplayer battle mode (where you and other players can battle each other). And there is also an Evolution mode (where you can upgrade your monsters), A kaiju field guide (which tells you all you need to know about the kaijus), and a mode where you can set up a scene and take a photo of it.

This game sadly received mainly negative reviews. And there were many arguments made about it. There are just a few of them.

1. The characters are too slow.

2. The graphics are seriously outdated.

3. You have to press the L1 and R1 buttons to turn the character.

4. You have to play the game a billion times over in order to get to the ending.

5. It's a really bad fighting game.

To which I say...

1. I can understand that but they are giant monsters.

2. This was previously released on the PlayStation 3. You can't expect the creators to upgrade the game every time an old game is re-released on a later game console.

3. That I can understand.

4. In order to get to the ending, you have to destroy every single thing in the levels and get a 100% destruction score before you destroy the last generator.

5. It is not a fighting game.

Any dislikes?: Apart from the fact that you have to use the L1 and R1 button in order to turn the characters, none what so ever.

Any thing that I want to see in a future DLC or update?: More monsters to choose.

Anime Review: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Release date: 2000 (US release). April 21st 2001 (Japanese release).

Story: D has been hired to find and rescue a woman named Charlotte, who has been abducted by a vampire baron named Meier Link. But he doesn't know that he is not the only person who is hired. And soon it has become a small race to see who can rescue

My thoughts: This is an ok sequel. The animation is great and the characters are ok. Yet the only thing I didn't like about it is the fact that Charlotte and Meier are in love. All throughout the film, It gives you the feeling that Charlotte is under some sort of spell. And instead of rescuing her, D lets her and Meier get away. Apart from that, everything else is ok.

My score: Three stars.

Anime Review: Vampire Hunter D

Release date: December 21st 1985 (Japanese release). August 1992 (US release).

Story: In a post apocalyptic future, vampires and other supernatural creatures have awoken and are trying to claim the world. But a handful of humans have also survived and are doing their best to fight back and carry on with their lives. This is the story of a dhampir who is only known as D. He is a human/vampire hybrid who travels around on his cyborg horse, hunting and slaying monsters. One day, he is hired by a young woman named Doris Lang. Who has been bitten by a vampire noble named Count Lee. And wants D to slay him so she can be cured. Will D be able to slay the count? Watch the film and find out.

My thoughts: This was based on a series of novels by Hideyuki Kikuchi. And it is pretty good. D himself  is a cool character yet rarely speaks. This anime movie is a cross between Fist of the North Star and Hellsing (D himself is the son of Dracula). This movie has a sequel named Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (which I may cover in a later review). If you like anime or horror, then I would recommend giving this a watch.

My score: Four stars.

Film Review: King Kong vs Godzilla

Release date: August 11th 1962 (original Japanese release). 1963 (US release).

Story: Godzilla has returned after being trapped inside an ice tomb for seven years. And wastes no time in going about his old ways of rampaging through cities. Everyone has no idea how to deal with a giant monster that can't be killed. Until the recent discovery of another giant monster that has escaped from capture and is also arrived in Japan. The giant gorilla... King Kong.

My thoughts: One of the few Godzilla movies to have been released on DVD in the UK. And it is really good. The American monster fighting the Japanese monster on the big screen in full colour for the first time. Yet there are a few things that I didn't like. One of them being that Kong looks like a giant yeti rather than a gorilla. The other is Kong's ability to gain more strength and power by absorbing electricity. But then I found out that this was going to be Godzilla vs Frankenstein. But they switched Frankenstein's monster for King Kong. But they kept the ability to get stronger when absorbing electricity and gave it to Kong. Also there was a myth floating around for years after the film's release. It states that in the original Japanese version, Godzilla wins. And in the American release, Kong wins. Then years later, it was finally revealed that the different endings were untrue. They both fall into the ocean, Kong surfaces, he swims off, and Godzilla is nowhere to be seen (until the next film Mothra vs Godzilla). If you are a fan of Godzilla and kaiju films, then I would recommend this. And I am looking forward to the remake Godzilla vs Kong in 2020.

My score: Five stars.

TV Review: The Addams Family

Release date: September 18th 1964 - April 8th 1966 (2 seasons. 64 episodes).

Story: The many happenings and adventures of a macabre family named the Addams family. Whose family members include Gomez, his wife Morticia, their children Pugsley and Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Grandmama, their butler Lurch, and the mysterious unseen Thing.

My thoughts: This show was based off the newspaper cartoon strip by Charles Addams. It has been often mistaken for The Munsters (a similar comedy show about a family of monsters) and they even share the same musical clips. The cartoon strip later spawned two animated shows, four movies, a musical stage show, another tv show, and loads of merchandise. The theme song is widely known all over the world and it is one of the best known tv theme songs. If you like comedy shows like the Munsters then I would give this a watch.

My score: Three stars.

TV Review: Street Sharks

Release date: September 11 1994 - May 18th 1997 (3 seasons. 40 episodes).

Story: After being mutated into four humanoid sharks, The Street Sharks decide to use their powers to protect their city against the evil Doctor Piranoid and his gang of mutant fish monsters. They are Ripster (a Great White shark), Jab (a Hammerhead shark), Streex (a Tiger shark), and Slammu (a Whale shark).

My thoughts: This is an ok show. I'll admit that I have collected the toys but never had seen the actual show until now (this was one of those shows that is just a big advertisement for toys). The characters are ok (Doctor Piranoid has a cool feature that he can transform into a human/piranha thing when ever he gets angry) yet the animation at times can be lazy. But there is good action and the character designs for the fish monsters are cool. There are even song segments in this which I felt were unnecessary. The theme song is ok as well. This is defiantly a 90's cartoon and I only recommend it for those who like 90's things.

Fun fact: The street sharks even have a crossover with another cartoon called the Extreme Dinosaurs.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Blade 2.

Release date: March 22nd 2002.

Story: Two years after the events of the first movie, Blade is still hunting vampires and has recently rescued his friend and mentor Abraham Whistler. But now there is a new breed of vampires that has emerge. And the situation is so bad that the vampires themselves have asked Blade himself to help them kill off this new mutation before both them and the humans are wiped out.

My thoughts: This is the second sequel to Blade and the one I have watched the most. It has a great concept (Blade having to team up with his enemies in order to take on an even bigger threat) and the action is great. Danny John-Jules even stars in this as one of the vampires who teamed up with Blade. Like I said this is a good movie and I recommend it for anyone who likes action and vampire films.

My score: Four stars.

Scary story 6.

The Pig Woman.

Somewhere in the US state of Wisconsin, is the last remains of a hospital built in the mid to late eighteen hundreds. It was a successful hospital and even donated some of its time to create new cures for illnesses that pop up now and then. But for some reason just before the Great Depression, it was closed and then later fell apart due to weather and nature. Nobody knows why it was immediately shut down. Some say that it was due to money problems. While others say that there was an outbreak of something, and it had to be put under quarantine. It remained a mystery for centuries. Until a group of urban explorers discover some documents and shed a light on the real reasons.

In 1933, a woman was brought into the hospital after developing a strange new illness. The doctors went into overtime trying to find a cure for her. But no matter what they did, the woman grew worse and worse. It looked like that she would never be cured. Until one of the doctors discovered something. While reading a book on mystical healing, he read about a ritual that involves making a drink out of wild herbs, water from a nearby stream, and a quarter pint of blood from an animal that had been part of a sacrifice. This potion would cure the drinker of any illness known or unknown. The doctor brought this idea to the other doctors and (as was suspected) he was laughed at. But the doctor refused to give in and set about to re-create the potion himself. He managed to locate some of the wild herbs in the nearby woods and the rest of them he brought from local apothecaries. He then went and collected water from a nearby stream and purchased some pigs blood from a slaughterhouse. Then alone in his study, the doctor begins to mix the ingredients together and soon created the potion.

He quickly yet secretly visited the ill woman and told her that he had found a cure for her illness and sated that she must drink the potion in one go. Wanting to be cured of her long-term illness, the woman took the potion and drank it all. While the doctor performed some sort of chanting (this was also part of the ritual). And at first, all was fine. Over the next few days the woman showed signs that her illness was fading away and that she was almost cured. The doctor was over joyed with this and began boasting about it to the other doctors. Who were both shocked and amazed that a potion found in an old book was able to cure someone. But the celebrations were short lived. As soon things began to turn bad.

Three weeks after she was cured, the woman began to act strangely. The first thing was that she had difficulty talking. She slowly lost the ability to talk and could only communicate with grunts and squeals. Then she began to change physically. Her hands and feet changed into trotters, her ears grew bigger and longer, her nose turned into a snout, she grew tusks, and she had even grown a tail. After a month, she no longer resembled a woman. She was now a human/pig hybrid. The doctors were horrified by this and blamed the one who had caused this. And on re-reading the old book, they discovered something truly horrifying. The formula stated that if the animal’s blood wasn’t from a sacrificed, then the drinker will slowly turn into the animal itself. This was truly bad for the doctors. Not only did one of them turn a woman into a hideous monster, but that they all would be blamed for this and would properly be hanged. So, there was only one option left…

It was quick and easy. The pig woman was taken deep into the cellars of the hospital and was shot through the head. Her body was then placed inside the incinerator (which was used to burn bodies who have died from a plague or something else) and it was burned into ashes. And after that, the doctors all agreed to never speak of this again and to keep it a secret from the rest of the world. And that was it for many years. Until one day, the hospital suddenly began to suffer from bad luck. And the doctors themselves began to be killed off in weird yet horrifying ways. The public weren’t told how and why they died but what they were told was that their bodies were in a real mess. As if a wild animal had been eating them. Fearing that whatever was killing the doctors might keep coming back, the other staff and patients were quickly moved to other hospitals. And several armed policemen kept guard at the hospital. Waiting for whatever was killing the doctors to return and capture it. But many years passed, and nothing happened. So, the police decided to build a large fence around the building and left it for nature to reclaim it.

The hospital remains there to this very day. Yet it is now a shell of its former self. Now and then urban explorers would often force open a window or a door and go wondering about inside. It was all good for a while until they begin to hear a weird sort of grumbling. Like that of a wild animal trying to talk. People would either go and see what was making the noise or get the hell out of there. Which one would you choose if you just so happen to be exploring an abandoned hospital and started hearing a low grumbling? If I were you, I would choose the get out of there option. Because you may not like what you find!

Creepypastas: A beginner's guide.

Creepypastas are basically online horror stories. They are what many people call modern myths and legends. The name itself is a parody on the phrase "Copy pasta" which means that there are no official copywrite claims on them (except for one maybe) and anyone could write their own remakes or use other peoples characters. There are many forms of creepypastas. Ranging from lost episodes to psychopathic teenagers. So there is a beginner's guide to some of the many types of creepypastas. 

But before we begin, there's some advice. If you are going to write your own, hugely disturbing and gory materials may not make a great creepypasta. Good build up with great suspense and a good payoff usually guaranties a great story. Plus likable characters and a great villain.

Type 1: Lost episodes.

These creepypastas are about a unknown person (usually the narrator) coming across a unaired episode of a beloved cartoon or live action show. Only to discover why it was never aired. The lost episodes feature many disturbing and gory imagery and would also feature the characters doing things that were completely off character. To be honest, I dought that these so called lost episodes are real. Why would the creators of a highly successful tv show create a episode with disturbing imagery and in doing so, risk their popularity and their careers? Perhaps these episodes were created by a rival company in order to get the series off the air? Who knows.

Type 2: Psychopathic teenagers.

These are the most popular types of creepypastas. They are about troubled and bullied teenagers who finally snap completely and start killing people. They would also suffer horrifying injuries or were perhaps experimented on (like having their faces burned, their eyes turn a funny colour, and gaining unrealistic superhuman abilities) Which would make them stand out and give them different characteristics. They would also have a significant weapon (a sharp knife mainly) and would also have a catchphrase (such as "Go to sleep!" or "Your time is up!"). But what nearly every one of these characters have one thing in common. Bad parents or relatives. Give Jeff the killer some credit, at least his parents were not bad (stupid yes but not horrible).

Type 3: Bad games.

These creepypastas are similar to Lost episodes. they are about a person finding a video game from their childhood (either by finding it in storage or buying it from a jumble sale) and deciding to play it again for nostalgic reasons. Only to realise that the game has changed a lot. They would feature horrifyingly gory and disturbingly images and have characters that address the player (either asking the player on why they haven't played in years, why did the player made them do something horrible, or that they'll get the player). In some versions, the game turns out to be possessed by a demonic presents and said presents would go after the player (which in many cases would ruin the creepypasta).

Type 4: Supernatural goings on.

These are basically stories about ghosts, demons, monsters, and other supernatural creatures. Some are based on real life myths and folklore (like the wendigo and skin-walkers). Many of these stories are about someone or a group of people being stalked or being menaced by a monsters and would often wonder why is it targeting them. These monsters would become famous in their own way. Like Mr Widemouth, Mr Nails, The Rake, and the infamous Slenderman (perhaps the first creepypasta ever made).

Type 5: Shorts.

These ones are properly the best ones. They are two or five sentence long stories that are short but to the point.

Type 6: Secure. Contain. Protect (SCP).

The S.C.P is a fictional organisation of doctors, scientists, researchers, military units, and agents who's soul purpose is to locate and contain supernatural items and monsters so that they cannot harm humans. They are catalogued into three categories. Safe (not harmful at all), Euclid (mostly not harmful unless provoked), and Keter (extremely harmful and dangerous to everything and everyone). These include a pizza box that will produce the holder's favourite pizza, a drinks machine that will give you any type of liquid, a room made out of human flesh, a statue that only moves when no one is looking at it, and a creature that doesn't like it when you look directly at its face.

Type 7: Rituals.
This creepypastas are step by step guides on how to perform rituals. Which will either summon demons or any other supernatural or satanic being. But please take my advice and NEVER try and perform theses in real life. Not only will nothing happen but many of them involve harming yourself. 

What if: What if Godzilla and kaijus are real?

Godzilla is the king of monsters. First appearing in the 1954 film of the same name and has spawned a series of movies and a huge ton of franchise. He is a well known icon of films and there have been many parodies about him. Yet there had always been a question being pondered by fans. What if Godzilla and other kaiju like him was real? In the first of a new series I am now doing (beginning with What if Pokémon were real), I am going to explore a possible world where fictional creatures and beings are real. And where to start but with the King of the monsters himself. So here we go.

The pros:

It would be an experience living in a world where Godzilla and other kaiju are real. Just imagen looking out of a window (either in a building or a vehicle and seeing either Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, or another kaiju roaming around). And it would be another thing watching either two of them or a whole group of them battling each other. There would also be a real Monster Island where all of the kaijus would be move to in order to study them and also keep them from rampaging through inhabited areas. And there is the fact that if Earth was ever invaded by aliens, we would have a living weapon to counter attack. There might also be those who would chase Godzilla similar to those who chase storms. In order to pick up some information that might help us.

The cons:

No one would want him alive. Godzilla is known to rampage through cities and destroying many places in his path. It will be like a natural disaster only ten times worse. And knowing that he swims in the oceans, cities on the coast will be evacuated and everyone would either move inland or underground. Meanwhile all of the nations will try and develop new ways of killing Godzilla or at least drive him away from their countries. People may begin to form cults and begin to worship him like a living god. Trade and travel would become a thing to worry about. In the fear that planes and ships might be attacked at any moment. If not by Godzilla then by any of the other kaijus as well. And then there is the fear that any rogue nation or organisation might attempt to tame Godzilla and use him for their own desires.

Conclusion:

It is a mixed bag. It would be cool to see Godzilla in the real world but it will not be a great world to live in. But what are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comment section below and I will see you next time.

Film Review: Reign of Fire

Release date: July 12th 2002.

Story: After accidentally awakening a group of hibernating dragons under the streets of London, mankind is nearly whipped out and the dragons are now the dominant species. Now in 2020, a small group of survivors try and survive in the dragon ruled world. Until one day a group of American dragon slayers arrive with the intent of slaying the alpha male dragon. But the two groups of humans have a hard time getting along. Will they be able to get along with each other and help save mankind? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: This is a ok film. The dragons look great yet the characters are a bit hit and miss for my taste. But it's cool to see Christian Bale (before his Batman years) and Matthew McConaughey's characters butting heads. If you are a fan of post apocalyptic films then I would recommend this.

My score: Three stars.

The top five short horror stories to read this halloween

No 5: The sound of silence.

A deaf man had been undergoing surgery to restore his hearing. When he awoke after recovering, he was surrounded by family and friends in his hospital room. And he was overjoyed by the fact that he can hear them again. But when they stopped talking, he asked what he was hearing now. A friend said that he was hearing silence. But the man stated that what he was hearing was not silence. Then a loud noise suddenly erupted from another part of the hospital. The man then said that noise is silence. But then his wife said that the noise isn't silence... it's screaming.

No 4: The spare room.

A young woman moves into a house just on the outskirts of town. It was ok apart from the spare room that was in need of redecorating. So she started to redecorate it. And the first thing she does is scrapping of the old wallpaper. But as she does so, she notices names and dates scratched onto the wall underneath. She has no idea what they mean until she looks up one on the internet. She was horrified to discover that the names are that of missing people and that the dates are the days that they had vanished. She rings the police and they inspect the spare room. The woman was just outside when she hears one of the policemen say "Yep... it's defiantly human". She then asks what was human and was told that she is going to be taken to a safe place... For it was not wallpaper that she has scrapping off the walls.

No 3: The keyhole.

A man gets a room at a old hotel. He was given a key and as he was going up to his room, the receptionist asked that is he comes across a room with no number on the door, that he should leave it alone. That man doesn't know what the receptionist is on about but agrees and heads off to his room. But during the night, he keeps hearing strange noises. Thinking that it was the other visitors staying at the hotel, the man goes outside to complain. But as he leaves his room, he notices the room without a number on its door. And that the noises where coming from inside the room itself. So he kneels down and looks through the keyhole. All he sees is a woman with pale skin, long black hair, and was wearing a white nightdress. And that she was making those strange noises. She was standing with her back to the door so the man didn't see her face. But the man must have made a noise for the woman began to turn around. Quickly the man backed away from the door and went back to his room. Where he spent the rest of the night. In the morning the man goes to check out before leaving the hotel. But as he walks past the door without a number, he decides to look through the keyhole again. All he saw this time was red. Red everywhere. The man then goes to reception and tells the receptionist everything. The receptionist is angry that the man did what he was told not to and then tells him everything about that room. The room is haunted by the ghost of a woman who was murdered by her husband years ago. And also her husband had removed her eyes. Leaving only empty, red sockets.

No 2: The Portraits.

A traveller is lost in the wilderness. It is getting dark and he is needing to find shelter for the night. Soon he finds an old abandoned house and decides to spend the night in there. The traveller goes inside and soon finds a old dusty bed. But when he sets up a sleeping bag, he notices that the room is full of portraits. They are of hideous, horrifyingly people who made the traveller nervous. They seem to stare at him as he gets ready for bed and continue to stare at him as he gets into bed and falls asleep. But the traveller has a good nights sleep and wakes up early the next day. He gets up and then notices something. There were no portraits on the walls of the cabin... Only windows.

No 1: The voice.

A girl is in her room when she hears her mother calling for her. She then goes downstairs to see what her mother wants. But as she walks past a wardrobe, a hand reaches out and pulls her in. As she wonders what is going on, she notices that it was her mother who has pulled her inside. And her mother says "Do not make a sound. I've heard it too".

Film Review: Phantom of the Opera

Release date: August 12th 1943.

Story: The Paris opera house is a fun place of music, songs, and entertainment. But deep within the underground tunnels and catacombs that lay just underneath the building... lays a fallen angle. A disfigured person known only as the Phantom haunts the opera house. And has fallen for a talented singer.

My thoughts: This is the second adaptation of the Phantom of the Opera and the first to be made in colour. The characters do great performances and the opera songs are spectacular to watch. But sadly there is no real mystery in this film. You know who the Phantom is, how he got disfigured, and why he is menacing the opera house. In the other adaptations they still keep the mystery on who the Phantom is and the reasonings why he is doing what he does. But apart from that it is a great movie and it is part of the Universal Monsters set.

The top five games to play on Halloween.

 No 5: Sour Sweet/Candy Roulette.

Things you'll need: You will need a small blank bag, a handful of sweets, three or four sour sweets, and five players.

Rules: The players must sit in a circle. And without them seeing, place a small amount of sweets (plus one sour sweet) in the bag. Then each player must take out a sweet from the bag and eat it. This will continue until one player gets the sour sweet. Then that player leaves the game and (after refilling the bag) the game continues. Then the winner is the one who doesn't get a sour sweet through out the whole game.

No 4: Guest the horror theme tune.

Things you'll need: A CD, tape, or iTunes selection of theme tunes of horror movies an tv shows.

Rules: The players have to guess which horror movie or tv show the tune has come from. With each correct guess, the player gets a point. And the player with the most points wins.

No 3: Jigsaw Skeletons.

Things you'll need: Two skeletons (either made out of cardboard or plastic) and two teams of two players.

Rules: The skeletons are broken up and placed in a bowl. And the players have to put their skeletons together within a time limit. And the winner is the team who has the most assemble skeleton.

No 2: Find the skull.

Things you'll need: A small plastic skull (or anything else that is related to Halloween).

Rules: Someone hides the skull either in the room or the house. And then everyone goes searching for it. The winner is the one who finds it first.

No 1: Bloody Mary.

Things you'll need: A mirror and several candles.

Rules: The player must look into a mirror at midnight. Turn all of the lights off and light the candles. Then they must chant "Bloody Mary" a number of times (it varies from country to country). If you are successful, the image of a ghost girl will appear in the mirror. They say that the ghost will try and attack whoever is looking at them. If this happens, you must turn on the lights immediately. This will make the ghost disappear back to the other world.

These are just some of the things that you can do on Halloween. Apart from Trick or Treating, having costume parties, visiting haunted houses, among other things. But if you do go out on Halloween, make sure that you stay safe, don't go wondering off alone or far from where you live, and only go with people you know.

No 10: The Mothman.

A being that is 20% man and 80% moth. It is said that when ever the Mothman appears, trouble and disaster follows. Many eyewitness accounts describe the Mothman as having the body, arms, and legs of a man but with the fur, wings, and head of a moth. With glowing red eyes. There is another version of this cryptid known as the Owlman.

No 9: Black dogs and Demon hounds.

These monsters (made famous by the Sherlock Holmes mystery The hound of the Baskervilles) are known through out north west Europe (including Great Britain and Germany). They are abnormally large dogs with jet black fur, glowing red eyes, and smoke coming out of either the nostrils or the mouth. They are known to chase after sinners and bad people in order to drag them into hell. But if you are not a bad person and just so happen to come across one, you will suffer from bad luck and misfortune.

No 8: Skin-walkers.

These cryptids are from Native American folklore and legends. They are normal people who when wearing the skin of an animal (a jackal in most cases) and chant a spell, will change mentally and sometimes physically into the animal (not to be confused with werewolves). There have been a number of sightings of Skin-walkers from early colonial times to today. From encountered a abnormally shaped wolf with bear like features to seeing a deer walking around on its back legs as if it was human. Skin-walkers can also mimic voices of people. They use this to lure their victims to their deaths.

No 7: The Goatman.

This one from the U.S.A is about a human/goat hybrid. He used to be either a scientist that was experimenting on himself or a murderer who had a curse put on him. But whatever version you heard, the Goatman is something you should never encounter. He is also known to carry an axe and (like Skin-walkers) can mimic other peoples voices.

No 6: Sewer pigs.
Before the urban legend of alligators living in the sewers came along. Pigs and wild boars were the original animals that were thought to live in the sewers. Tells were told of sewer workers being chased or seeing an abnormally large and savage pig wondering around the dark and damp sewer tunnels during the 15th and 16th centuries.

No 5: The Jersey devil.
This one is from New Jersey, U.S.A. It tells about a creature that is said to roam the countryside of the state. Legend says that a woman in post Independence War era had a thirteenth child. She didn't want another kid so she angry stated that "The devil can have it!". When the child was born, it was horrifying to look at. the child then ran up the chimney and escaped into the nearby forest. Where it grew up into a creature that is the stuff of nightmares.

No 4: Vampires.
Vampires were once living people who become demonic creatures after being bitten by another vampire. They have pale skin, arch nostrils, red eyes, and long and sharp teeth. They can be found all over the world and there are a number of ways of killing them or fighting them off. Some of the most famous vampires are Elisabeth Bathory and Count Dracula.

No 3: Mokele Mbembe.
Legend says that there are living dinosaurs living near the Congo river in Africa. Natives talk about a creature that resembles a Brontosaurus or a similar long necked dinosaur that swims in the river and would often attack anything that crosses it's path. Although they might have mistaken an elephant swimming for the creature (as elephants hold their trunks above the water as they swim).

No 2: The Kraken.
This legendry sea monster is a gigantic octopus that can pull ships under the water with his giant tentacles. It mainly swims in the North Atlantic oceans and the Nordic seas. This legends is possibly based around the colossal squid.

No 1: The Wendigo.
This is another creature from Native American folklore. It says that if anyone partakes in evil doings or cannibalism, then they'll transform (sometimes slowly and painfully) into a hideous looking being that resembles a abnormally long and thin shrived up corpse. They can also mimic other people's voices to lure their victims and in some versions of the legend, can cause harsh winter weather where ever they go.

Witches and Goblins, Ghoulies and Ghosts.

This are the things that scare you the most.

They are all prepared to give you such a big fright.

If you dare go out on Halloween night!

From the wind that whistles and the doors that creek,

To the sudden chills that make you feel weak.

My top ten Urban Legends 2.

No 10: The mad butcher.

This tells the story of a local friendly butcher who is going out of business (the reason varies from story to story). He is desperate to get customers and would do anything to get them. That changed when he accidently kills someone (either a criminal who had broken into his shop to steal or a family member after a long and savage argument). The butcher didn't know how to get rid of the body so he then cuts it up and grinds the meat into mince which he uses to make sausages. The sausages became a hit and the butcher was back in business. But in order to keep up with the demands, he begins killing people (mainly homeless people) and cutting the meat into either sausages, mince, or steaks. Things when on like that for years until the butcher was found out. Either one of his victims wasn't properly killed and had escaped or someone had witnessed him restocking his larder. But whatever the case, the butcher was chased and then caught by an angry lynch mob. His punishment also varies from story to story. With some saying that he was either hanged or been minced alive.

No 9: The body under the bed.

A couple arrive at a hotel for their honeymoon. They were taken to their prepaid room. But when they arrived, they were greeted by a horrible smell. It was so bad that they asked the cleaning staff to try and get rid of it. But no matter how hard the cleaning staff tried, the smell just wont go away. Finally the manager came to see what the fuss was about. He then discovered that the source of the smell was coming from under the mattress. He lifted it and saw to everyone's horror, that there was a decomposing dead body hiding under it.

No 8: Exploding toilets.

A wife decides to clean the house while her husband is at work. She does a great job at it and then decides to clean the toilet inside and out. The cleaning liquid that she used was highly flammable but she wanted to do a good job, she didn't notice. When her husband get home, he congratulates her on doing a great job. He then uses the bathroom and lights a cigarette. But with no where else to dispose of the lit match, he throws it in the toilet. And wakes up at the hospital three days later in a body cast.

No 7: The Halloween decoration.

It is Halloween and everyone is enjoying the celebrations. The town of which the story takes place was over decorated with Halloween props. One of them was ,at first glance, a dummy hanging on a branch of a tree by its neck at a corner of the road. nobody knew who put it there but it was declared the best decoration of this year by the town's mayor for how realistic it looks. But when they finally get a closer look, they discover to their horror that it was in fact a real dead body that was stolen from the local cemetery and had been hanged up as part of a horrible prank.

No 6: The new dress.

A collage girl wants to look her best for the homecoming dance. But she just can't find the right dress to wear. That is until she finally finds it at a cheap shop. She buys it and wears it to the dance. But during the dance, she feels ill and then falls down dead in front of everyone. It was later reviled that the dress that she was wearing had traces of embalming fluid on it and when the police went to the cheap shop to get some information about where it came from, they learn that it was stolen from a local graveyard.

No 5: The wine barrel.

This one tells of two men finding a barrel of wine in a abandoned house. So they decided to take it home and sell the contents for some money. They do take the barrel home, fill some glass bottles with the wine, and sell them to passers-by. Then a wine collector comes along and (after sampling the wine) asks the two men if he could see the barrel so that he could learn more of it. The men agree and show him the barrel. But when they managed to take the lid off of the barrel, they discover to their horror that there was a dead body inside it.

No 4: The face in the window.

A girl who is babysitting is in the living room watching television. But out of the corner of her eye, she sees a hideous man staring at her from the window. She then calls the police and they arrived. They could not see anyone outside the window and tell the girl that it was properly her imagination. But as they were leaving, one of them noticed the sofa moving slightly. He then looks behind it and sees a man hiding behind it. It was the man that the girl had seen in the window. Only now they realised that it was the reflection of the man's face that she had seen.

No 3: The haunted road.

Somewhere in the American state of New Jersey, is a haunted road that takes you along a hilly pass. It is said that if you travel along it at a certain speed, you will hear a voice telling you to slow down. The speed that you have to travel in order to hear the voice is too fast and it is adviced that you shouldn't do it.

No 2: The dead animal in the suitcase.
A person is on their way to a city in their car when they accidently run over a small animal (the animal varies from story to story). They feel sorry for hitting the animal so they wrap it up in some old newspapers and put it in an old suitcase that they were doing to get rid of at a dump (in some versions they put it in a old shopping bag and they are going to buried it later). They then arrive at the dump and was about to dump the old suitcase when a mugger steals it and runs off with it. In other versions, the person goes after the mugger and witnesses them looking inside the suitcase and getting a horrifying shock from the dead animal rotting inside.

No 1: The axe murder forest.
A variation of the hook killer story. In this one, a couple are driving through a forest that are known to be the hideout of a derange killer armed with a axe. It is raining and the road is slippery so the car then slides of the road and gets stuck in the mud. The man then decides to go for help and the woman is left in the car. She locks the doors and waits patiently for her husband to return. As she does, she keeps hearing noises. Like a twig snapping or heavy breathing. After some time putting up with this, the woman decides to abandon the car and goes after her husband. When she does, she finds her husband's severed head sitting on the roof of the car. As she is reeling from shock, she bumps into the axe wielding killer.
