Film Review: Batman vs the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Release date: June 4th 2019.

Story: Batman encounters the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as two of their deadliest enemies join forces in order to bring chaos to Gotham city.

My thoughts: This is a good film. It is based on the six issue comic book series of the same name. And it is great to see these two series meeting each other. But there are somethings that I didn't like about it much. One thing was the fact that the TMNT world co-exist with the Batman world. There was no "Interdimensional travel" to be found here. Also there was the mutagen or ooze. In the TMNT lore, when you come into contact with the ooze, you'll be transformed into the animal that you've been in contact the most. Yet in this, you just transform into any random animal (and in one case a plant). But apart from those, it is a great film with a lot of comedy and action.

My score: Four stars.

The top four games that I want to see in the near future.

No 4: An open world pokemon game.
Pokemon is a popular game in its own right. And with the recent release of Detective Pikachu, it is still highly talked about. So what I would like to see is a game similar to that of Skyrim online or World of Warcraft. Where you can freely walk about, collecting pokemons, building gyms or towns, and challenging and trading with other players. This would be a massive successful game if done right. Minecraft had something similar to this called Pixelmon. But it is sadly no longer around.

No 3: Creepypasta and/or Godzilla Go.
With the success of mobile games like Pokemon Go and Jurassic World Alive, then I wouldn't be surprised if other franchises would try and cash in on their successes. I would like to have two based on the Godzilla and the Creepypasta franchises. Where you travel around and collect the characters.

No 2: A Friday the 13th style game but with other slasher killers.
I love the Friday the 13th game and I want to see other similar games like it in the future. But perhaps one where you can play as other slasher killers from other horror movies (like The Burning, Madman, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Child's Play, My Bloody Valentine, and others). And perhaps something like you can create your own slasher killer and even name them as well. But this could just be a DLC for the Friday the 13th game.

No 1: An open world superhero game.
A open world game where you can create and name your own superhero would be amazing. One where you can play with other players and can even form superhero teams. Something similar to GTA online perhaps.

Film Review: Blade 2.

Release date: March 22nd 2002.

Story: Two years after the events of the first movie, Blade is still hunting vampires and has recently rescued his friend and mentor Abraham Whistler. But now there is a new breed of vampires that has emerge. And the situation is so bad that the vampires themselves have asked Blade himself to help them kill off this new mutation before both them and the humans are wiped out.

My thoughts: This is the second sequel to Blade and the one I have watched the most. It has a great concept (Blade having to team up with his enemies in order to take on an even bigger threat) and the action is great. Danny John-Jules even stars in this as one of the vampires who teamed up with Blade. Like I said this is a good movie and I recommend it for anyone who likes action and vampire films.

My score: Four stars.

Anime Review: Dragonball Z. Battle of gods

Release date: March 30th 2013 (Japanese release). 2014 (worldwide release).

Story: This story takes place years after Goku defeated Kid Buu and life on Earth has returned to normal. Goku is off training with King Ki, Vegeta and Piccolo are their usual selves, Gohan and Videl are now married and are expecting their first child, Mr Hercule Satan is being held as the one who defeated Kid Buu, and Bulma is celebrating her 39th birthday. Yes things are back to normal. Until a god of destruction awakes from a million years slumber and visits Earth in search of a being he had dreamt about know only as a Super Sayin God.

My thoughts: This is a great anime film. It has a lot of laughs and action that would please any anime fan. Lord Beerus and his servant Whis are interesting characters (Beerus resembling a humanoid Egyptian cat who is a selfish and spoiled type of person who has the ability to destroy entire worlds). There is only one thing that I didn't like in the movie. When they summoned Shenlong in order to find out who this Sayin god is, Shenlong reviles that he is scared of Beerus. I felt that this was out of character for the immortal dragon and that it should have been the other way round (seeing that Shenlong as the power to take away Beerus's powers or even erase him from existence altogether). The final fight between Goku and Beerus is spectacular. And the lengths that Vegeta goes through in order to prevent Beerus from destroying everything (including a hilarious bingo dance) can get a chuckle out of some people. Like I said this is a great anime film and it is a must have for any Dragonball and anime fans.

My score: Four stars.

TV reviews: Banana Man

Release date: 3rd October 1983 - 15th April 1986 (Three series. Forty episodes. Each five minuets long).

Story: Eric Twinge is your average British boy. But when ever trouble comes along to his home town or the world, it is up to Eric to save the day. For when Eric eats a banana, a strange transformation occurs and Eric becomes Banana-man. A superhero with the strength of twenty men and is always ready to combat the forces of evil.

My thoughts: I came across this cartoon after learning that the characters are voiced by the Goodies (Tim Brook Taylor, Graeme Garden, and Bill Oddie). The show is ok. Banana-man himself is like a hybrid of DC comics Shazam (a kid who can transform into a adult superhero) and Popeye (a character who is granted superhuman powers after eating healthy foods). The villains I found to be impressive. They are General Blight (a long nosed mastermind in a military outfit. He is the main villain in the cartoons), The Weatherman (a man who can created storms and other bad weather from his blimp), Doctor Gloom (a mad scientist who has a Peter Lore style voice), The Heavy Mob (a group of criminals led by Eddie the Gent. The worlds most polite criminal), Cream-man (a being that resembles a cream bun), King Zorg and the Nerks (A alien race), Auntie (General Blight's aunt and the worlds most deadliest assassin), The snowman (who is a living snowman created by the Weatherman and then became a villain of his own), and Appleman (a sort of evil clone of Banana-man). Other characters include Eric's cousin Samantha, Police Chief O'Reilly, Banana-man's trusty sidekick Crow, and news reporter Fiona.

The episodes are five minuets long which I find to be too short. Mostly due to the fact that the stories had some interesting elements to them. In one episode, Banana-man is being interviewed by Fiona on live television, only to change back into Eric. This could have made an interesting episode with Eric going into hiding and the villains teaming up to go after Eric's family (who apart from Samantha, they are never mentioned or shown up). Also there's an episode where Doctor Gloom had created a cloning machine and creates an exact copy of Banana-man. Cow manages to point out the copy by telling it a trick question and then after the real Banana-man defeats it, the episode ends. I thought that Banana-man would have tricked Doctor Gloom into thinking that the real Banana-man had been defeated and then capture him and take him to prison. Most of the humour in the show is mainly puns (mainly from Crow but mostly from the other characters). Like I said before the show is ok and if you want to watch it, then you can find it on Youtube or you can get the complete series on eBay and other shopping websites.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Blade

See the source image

Release date: August 21st 1998.

Story: There is a secret society of vampires that inhabit our world. And like most monsters, they prey on humans. But there is someone who protects the humans from them. A being that has spent years hunting them and slaying them. To them he is known as the Day-walker. But to us... he is known as Blade.

My thoughts: I like this movie a lot (Although my favourite out of this trilogy is the second movie). It blends both horror and action well with a bit of humour thrown in. Blade himself is a cool character. A human/vampire hybrid who helps mankind against vampires and other demonic creatures. Also this movie made the modern superhero movie what it is today (after Tim Burton's Batman proving that superhero movies can be taken seriously). Like I said this is a great movie and I would recommend it.

My score: Four stars.

Anime Reviews: One Punch Man

See the source imageRelease date: October 4th - December 20th 2015 (original release). July 16th - October 8th 2016 (English release). One series, twelve episodes, plus seven OVAs.

Story: Saitama may look like your average superhero. But in reality he is the extremely overpowered hero known as One Punch man. Named so because he is able to defeat even other extremely powerful super beings with just a single punch. But for him it is dull. Not being able to have a decent fight with a supervillain without smashing their brains everywhere. But soon he teams up with a cyborg named Genos as he fights evil and seeks out a worthy opponent.

My thoughts: This is a great and funny anime. The show is set in a world where superheroes are a thing (just like My Hero Academia) and where anybody could be a superhero if you have powers. There are a lot of funny moments in this (like Saitama trying to swat a mosquito) and there is going to be a second season coming soon. Like I said this is a good series and I would recommend it.

My score: Four stars.
