Scary story

The Abandoned House Project.

On June the 23rd 1995, a group of government officials located the many files of a British scientist named John Cartwright who had died three years earlier. His notes document about the strange goings on at an old abandoned house just two miles north of London. The house in question was said to be the last known hideout of a notorious serial killer named Old man Jack. Who had terrorised a local town for a number of years before he was discovered at the abandoned house and was hanged to death by the townsfolk. It is said that the house is haunted by Old man Jack and that his ghost could be seen wondering through the many rooms of the house. Just waiting for anyone who dares enter the building. Some people claim that the ghost in question was dressed in a butchers outfit and had a mask that only covered his mouth. It is said that Old man Jack was going blind in both of his eyes. But he also had a amazing sense of smell. He could pick up a scent from a mile away and also has an amazing sense of hearing. At least that's what the rumors say.

John Cartwright didn't believe in ghosts or the supernatural. He was one of those people who didn't believe in things that have no rhyme or reason. So he decided to put the rumors to rest by setting up three tests. Each of these tests involve three subjects who are asked to stay one night in the house. If all of them survive, then the house isn't haunted. The three subjects are only known as Subject 1, Subject 2, and Subject 3. Due to the fact that they didn't wanted to be named for personal reasons. Each subject was given a flashlight and a note book and pen to write down their experiences. They were also told that they each get a large cash award when they have completed the test.

The first subject was told to stay only in one room for the whole night. But he can lock the door if he wanted to (they had new keys made from the original blueprints of the house thanks to the local library). Which of course he did. He was found ok and well the next morning and was taken back to his home and was given his award. His notes say the following.

9.pm: Things are ok. I had chosen the living room due to it having a large fire place. After lighting a fire, I had locked the door to the room. Nothing has happened so far. I'll write more next time.

11.pm: I have been hearing strange noises happening for the last hour. From what could be footsteps going up and down the stairs to faint breathing noises. I don't know if they were caused by any supernatural creature or not but I'm glad that I have locked the only door to this room. Yet again I might be jumping at shadows.

1.am: Ok now I'm slightly getting scared now. I could have sworn that someone or something keeps walking past the door. I don't know if its an animals or something else. Still only seven hours to go now.

3.am: Nothing has happen so far.

5.am: The noises have stopped now. I could have sworn that I heard someone saying "I can smell you!" from somewhere in the house. But that could be anything.

7.am: My time is up. It is now daylight and I could see those men driving up the track. I hope that it is a huge amount of money that they'll give me when I get back hope.

The first subject was given his award and went on with his life.

The second subject was told that she could walk freely around the house so long if she doesn't go upstairs. She was also told that she can lock the doors if she feels like it and also to write down anything that happens to her. She was found hiding in the cellar the next morning. She looked like she had been put through hell and back. Her notes say the following.

9.pm: Everything is going well at the moment. I have been exploring the many rooms on the ground floor. I don't mind the fact that I've been band from going upstairs. The steps don't look at all safe. I'm now writing this in the dinning room just at the back of the house. Apart from the smell, I am perfectly fine.

11.pm: Ok this is starting to get scary. I keep hearing footsteps at random places inside the house. One time I thought that I saw someone darting from room to room behind me. If this is sort of hidden camera show thing I will get my lawyer and those guys will never hear the end of it. You mark my words!

2.am: Ok I am panicking now. There is someone or something in this house with me! I keep hearing voices saying "I can smell you!" and "I'm behind you!" And I could hear someone breathing on the back of my neck. This is worse then any reality tv show ever made.

4.am: I am writing this in the cellar. This is the only place where I haven't heard that voice or seen that shadowy figure. I have locked the door and I'm not going to write anything else until the morning.

The second subject spent most of her award money on therapy but eventually managed to get over her time there.

The third subject... was found dead the next morning. He was told that he can visit every single room in the house. Even the ones upstairs. And was also told to write down anything that he had experienced while staying at the house. While they were taking the body away, the note book was discovered inside of the guy's jacket. There were only three entries written in it.

9.pm: This place is utter crap. I mean why am I hear to begin with? Apart from the money that is. This is like those creepypastas and urban legends that you've either read or heard about. Most of the rooms are ok. Looks like I'll be sleeping in the master bedroom tonight.

12.am: Ok there have been noises and the odd breathing coming from nowhere, but nothing much else is happening. Must be those guys trying to make scare me.

3.am: The noises keep happening. They won't stop. I have tried to locked the door but the key won't turn. Oh god... someone is coming towards the door...

Apart from a lot of blood and signs of a struggle, nobody know what killed the third subject. It was believed that a crazy homeless person had gotten inside the house and had killed him. The other two subjects were never informed of the killing. Soon after the experiments were over, John Cartwright moved on with his life and the house was later demolished.

When questioned about how they managed to get hold of these notes after the death of John Cartwright, the government officials just say that they were given them by unknown persons. But when they were asked how they found out that John Cartwright had died, they just say that they have no idea. But it was later discovered that John had been murdered while he slept. It was the most gruesome murder scene the police had come across. But what made it more unnerving was a message written on the bedroom wall in blood... "I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN STRANGERS VISIT MY HOUSE!"

Film Review: Pumpkinhead

See the source image

Release date: October 14 1988 (limited release), January 13th 1989.

Story: When his son is accidently killed by a dirt bike, a country store owner takes matters into his own hands and seeks revenge. He then visits a local witch who has the ability to resurrect a monstrous creature that will seek out the ones responsible and kill them. But he soon finds out the true price for revenge.

My thoughts: This movie did poorly when it was released in cinemas but it later became a cult classic. It has three sequels, a comic book series, several model kits, and a song by the band The Misfits. The creature itself is impressive and the effects are amazing. If you are a horror fan then I would recommend this.

My score: Four stars.

Film Review: Halloween 2

See the source image

Release date: October 30th 1981.

Story: Set immediately after the events of the first movie, Jamie Lee Curtis's character is taken to a nearby hospital to recover from her experiences. But unlucky for her, Michael Myers has survived being gunned down and has found his way to the same hospital...

My thoughts: This movie is good but not as great as the first one. This is the movie where we learn more about Michael's past and how Jamie Lee Curtis character is connected. This movie was also supposed to be the last time we see Michael Myers as the antagonist (we see him getting shot and set on fire) and the rest of the movies were going to be an anthology series (a new story for every sequel). But it wasn't liked by fans and the series brought Michael back. But anyways it is a good movie and I would recommend it.

My score: Three stars.

TV Review: My Little Pony. Friendship is magic

Release date: October 10th 2010 - October 12th 2019 (9 seasons. 222 episodes).

Story: The many adventures of Twilight Sparkle and her friends as they learn morals of life and the true meaning of friendship.

My thoughts: This is a very great show for all ages. It is amazing how this show gained so much fans and followers (mainly Bronies). This show has a lot of fan fictions, fan drawings, fan comics, and even fan made games. Many Youtubers have admitted that they are fans of this show and there are even those who have been reviewing it. The characters are great, the animation is great, and the songs are also great. Many of the places in the series are named after real places with a pony twist in the name (such as Trottingham, Canterlot, and Ponyville). This series has a spin off series and even a movie. Like I said before this is a very amazing and successful show for all ages. And I am looking forward to see where the show goes next.

My score: Five stars.

Release date: October 7th 2011.

Type of game: An open world, building game.

Story: You are in a world where you can either build what ever you want or survive until you've completed the game.

My thoughts: This is a very good game. It allows players to freely roam around what ever map they are in. The game has two modes. One is Creative mode where you have unlimited resources and can build what ever they want. And the other is Survival mode where you have to get the resources yourself. This game has made many Youtubers very famous (including Stampylonghead and iBallisticsquid) and has many players from around the world. the game has no ending unless you include building a porthole to the end world and fight the Ender Dragon. I would highly recommend this game.

Release date: October 25th 1996.

Story: An obese upper class lawyer accidently runs over an old gipsy woman. When he managed to get away with it in court (with the help of some bribery), the woman's even older father places a curse on him. And pretty soon the lawyer begins to loose weight at an alarming rate. At first he likes it (he has been trying to loose weight at first) but then he realises that he's going to die unless the curse is removed. So he then goes in search of the old gipsy man in order to make him life the curse. Will he be able to do it in time? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: This movie was based on an Stephen King book (author of The Shining, Cujo, The Stand, and Salem's Lot) and it is an ok film. It didn't do well when it was first released but later gained a cult following in alter years along with the book. The film follows the book until the end where it was changed due to the reaction from test audiences. If you are a Stephen King fan or a horror fan in general, then I would give this movie a watch.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Passenger 57

Release date: November 6th 1992.

Story: Wesley Snipes plays as a Anti Terrorist expert John Cutter who is on board a plane which is also transporting the worlds most dangerous terrorist Charles Rane (played by Bruce Payne). But during the flight, a handful of Rane's allies free him and hijack the plane. It is now up to John Cutter to take on the terrorists and save the day. Will he be able to do it? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: This is a cool movie. The characters are memorable and the action is great. This is the movie that put Wesley in the spot light as an action hero. And he has some of the greatest lines in the movie. Bruce Payne's character also get some great lines as well. If you are a fan of action movies then I would recommend  giving this a watch. I think that you'll like it.

My score: Four stars.

TV Review: Scooby Doo

See the source image

Release date: 1969 - present (Twelve series. Plus several shorts, movies, crossovers, and various other things).

Story: A series of adventures which a talking Great Dane named Scooby Doo and his teenage pals travel from place to place and encountering mysteries and hideous monsters.

My thoughts: This is a show that is known worldwide and has been parodied since it's first debuted. The characters are well known (Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby Doo) and the monsters, ghosts, and the other supernatural beings that they encounter (who either turns out to be a criminal or a robot in disguise) are also memorable. The stories follow the same pattern. The gang turns up at a place, they learn of a mysterious place or legend that has risen up after centuries, they decided to split up and investigate, Scooby Doo and Shaggy encounter the monster and gets chased by it, Fred and the girls discover clues that tell them that the haunting is a cover up for a crime, they all set up a trap to catch the monster which Scooby Doo and Shaggy mess up yet capture the monster anyway, then they revile that he monster is in fact a criminal in a costume who was frighting away people so that they won't get find out, the villain ends up saying "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids and your dumb dog!", and Scooby Doo saying his name to end the episode. It surprises me that this show has lasted for many years with many re-adaptations, straight to dvd movies, and a ton of merchandise. It also surprises me that not once in any of the shows did anyone point out the fact that Scooby Doo is a talking dog (who can also walk on his hind legs, wear clothes, operate machinery, and can define the laws of physics). It is also clear that Fred and Daphne have feelings for each other (Daphne did mention this in something and Velma's reaction was a sarcastic "we kinda already know" response). But anyways you may like or dislike the show but it has its ups and downs. I do like the designs for the monsters and ghosts and that the show does have a good mystery that the viewers might want to solve as well.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Final Destination

See the source image

Release date: March 17th 2000

Story: When boarding a plane set to take them on a school trip to Paris, a high school student has a vision that the plane was going to explode seconds after take off. So he then panics and (along with some others) is forced to leave the plane. Nobody believes him when he talks about his vision, but then the plane actually does explodes. After a few days they begin to settle down and felt relived that they had escaped death. But little do they know that death doesn't like being cheated. And soon they get picked off one by one in horrifying ways.

My thoughts: This movie takes the elements from a slasher movie and puts a new and original spin on it. Having death itself stalk and kill the ones who had escaped their fate. This movie has created four sequels, novels, and even a comic book series. It is a good movie and if you are a horror fan, you might enjoy it.

My score: Three stars.

Gaming Review: Friday the 13th the game

See the source image

Release date: May 26th 2017 (downloadable version) October 13th 2017 (disc version).

Type of game: Multi-player Survival horror.

Story: You play as either a camp councillor trying to escape or as Jason Voorhees killing off the councillors before they escape.

My thoughts: This is an amazing game. Even though it is mainly online multi-player. This game started as a completely different game but then the game designers got the rights to the Friday the 13th films and history is made. As a councillor, you have four ways of surviving the game. You can either avoid Jason (by either hiding under the bed, or inside wardrobes and outdoor toilets), fix a car and drive away (by getting a car battery, petrol, and car keys), fix a motorboat and sail away (by finding petrol and a propeller), or phone the police by fixing a fuse box with a fuse and run to them when they arrive. Also if you die or escape, you might return as Tommy Javis (who has a hunting rifle and is the only one who can kill Jason) if you managed to find a radio and call for help. You can also use objects in the game. They are weapons that you can fight off Jason (an axe, a baseball bat, a blank of wood, a led pipe, a wrench, and a tree branch), things that can stun Jason for short periods of time so you can get away from him (a hunting rifle, a flare gun, a pocket knife, a bear trap, and some fire crackers), a map to show you where you are, a walkie talkie, and a spray can that can be used to heal yourself or others.

As Jason, you only have one goal. And that is to kill off every councillor before they either escape or the time runs out. Also you can choose from eight versions of Jason (plus the copycat from part 5 and a demonic Jason which was a pre-order bonus). This game had an update where there is an offline gaming. But you only play as Jason.

The way you can kill Jason is to have a player come back as Tommy, get Pamela's jumper from Jason's makeshift cabin, get everyone together and attack Jason, knock off Jason's mask, get the player that is wearing the jumper to order Jason to keel down, Then get Tommy to attack him with a machete. That is unless everyone hasn't escaped or aren't idiots.

Any dislikes: Sometimes on the online multi-player you are playing with idiots who either kill the other councillors even if they are playing councillors. Also it is a pain if you are chosen to play as Tommy at times. Especially when you managed to escape but then returned as him and get killed. Also sometimes the game ends when the one playing as Jason leaves the game (sometimes you get just a few seconds of game time).

Other things: There is a virtual cabin where you can walk around freely (in first person view) and look at items. Which will give you trivia about the making of the game and about the movies.

Anything I want to see in a future update or DLC: Other Jasons to play as. Mainly the ones from Jason X, Freddy vs Jason, and the 2009 remake. Also it would be great if we have the option of choosing Pamela Voorhees as the killer. And perhaps a DLC where you can create your own killer. Also it would be great if you can choose to play as Tina Shepard (the psychic girl from part 7). But sadly there was a copyright lawsuit and we'll not be getting any new content.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: Robocop 2

See the source image

Release date: June 22nd 1990.

Story: Robocop (Alex Murphy) and his fellow police officers are trying to clean the city of a new drug named Nuke that is spreading like wildfire. But things are not easy when one of the criminals behind the drug is no more than a kid and the fact that O.C.P is planning to build another cyborg policeman.

My thoughts: This is a good sequel but it isn't as great as the first one. The movie has its ups and downs. Like the part when Robocop is broken and when he is being rebuild, a random O.C.P spokesman manages to reprogram him into a walking P.S.A who often talks rubbish at times. But on the other hand Robocop 2 looks awesome and the action scenes are great.

My score: Three stars.

TV Review: Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

See the source image

Release date: September 29th 1967 - May 14 1968 (1 series. 32 episodes).

Story: The Mysterons. Sworn enemies of Earth. Possessing the ability to recreate and exact likeness or an object or person. But first they must destroy. Leading the fight against them is one man fate has made indestructible. His name... Captain Scarlet.

My thoughts: This is a amazing show. The puppetry is great and the special effects are out standing. Even the Mysterons themselves are among some of the greatest villains on television. Even though they are unseen, their voice is all that you need. And also they (unlike most villains) have a reason for being what they are. Earth had attacked them when they saw something that resembled a gun and opened fire at the Mysterons without hesitation. So the humans have brought this upon themselves. I would recommend this for those who like classic tv shows and sci fi fans alike.

My score: Five stars.

TV Review: Lost in space

See the source image

Release date: September 15th 1965 - March 6th 1968 (3 seasons. 83 episodes).

Story: While traveling to Alpha Centauri system in order to start a new life, The Robinson family and their pilot Major Donald West are forced to land on a planet when their ship (The Jupiter 2) is sabotaged by Doctor Zachary Smith and their robot. They then try and repair their ship whilst encountering many strange and weird aliens and monsters.

My thoughts: This sci fi show was based on the Swiss Family Robinsons story. And it has it's ups and downs. For the first two seasons, they are stranded on a planet and have to repair their ship in order to escape. Season three was what I though the series was going to be. Them traveling through space and coming across things. Doctor Smith starts out as a bad guy like person in the first season but soon ends up becoming the comedic relief. he is also the most selfish and cowardly person in the show. There have been many times when they are in danger and Smith would either run away or side with the enemy in order to save his skin and get back to Earth. But many of the other casts are like that at times. Like in one episode (at the cliff-hanger before the end titles) Mr Robinson refuses to let Smith eat because he skipped out from doing chores (even though Mrs Robinson had cooked it especially for him). And Major West is seen to be aggressive towards him at Smith as well. Like in one episode were Smith mistakenly presses the wrong button while repairing the ship (causing a major electrical eruption), West threatens to beat him up. Many of the monsters and villains are just the same creature used over and over again. Like in one episode they could be a rampaging creature but in another they are a intelligent being. And also the famous Robby the robot makes an appearance in the first and third seasons. This show can be a bit silly but it is still entertaining.

My score: Three stars.

Anime Review: Fist of the North Star

See the source image

Release date: October 11th 1984 - February 18th 1988 (109 episodes).

Story: After a nuclear war has destroyed everything, humanity is now fighting over food, water, and territory. One of these people is Kenshiro. A warrior who is trained in a deadly martial art. He travels the wastelands in search of the one who took his wife and scared him. Meeting new people and fighting off countless enemies along the way.

My thoughts: This is a very good anime. It has action and great characters. A sort of Bruce Lee meets Mad Max series. Due too a lot of blood and gore, this anime if only for 18 year olds upwards only I'm afraid. But otherwise this is a great anime series. If you are a fan of post apocalyptic and martial art shows then I would recommend this.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: The Burning

Release date: May 8th 1981

Story: A local summer camp is reopening after a horrible incident five years ago when its former groundskeeper is horribly disfigured in a fire when a prank goes wrong. But what they don't know is that the said groundskeeper is still alive and escapes from hospital to seek revenge.

My thoughts: This is your standard slasher killer movie. A derange and disfigured killer slaying people in hideous and horrifying ways until one if left to face the killer alone. The summer camp setting may be an overused place to set a story (Friday the 13th and many others have done this before and after) but it does things differently to keep it new. Those who are horror fans will like this one.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Funny-Man

See the source image

Release date: October 7th 1994.

Story: After winning a new house in a card game, Max Taylor quickly moves in with his family (and with his brother bringing their things and a few hitchhikers along as well). But soon things start getting weird as a demonic jester is awaken and starts picking them off one by one.

My thoughts: This is a weird movie. A mixture of horror and comedy. Tim James plays the title character and he gives a great performance. The Funny-Man himself is like a British Freddy Kruger or Pennywise. As in a supernatural jester that alters reality and gives out one liners. Christopher Lee himself also stars in this film (in one of his lesser known roles). His character is the original owner of the house which he looses in the card game (which leads me to a theory that he deliberately sells his home in order for the satisfy the Funny-man with new victims). Sadly his character isn't in the movie much. He just appears now and then and says weird poems and riddles. Even Velma from Scooby Doo is in this as well as one of the hitchhikers (although I don't think that she is Velma and just someone who looks like her). But anyways it is a good movie (although there is a lot of blood, gore, swearing, and weirdness in it) and I would recommend for any horror fan.

My score: Four stars.

TV Review: The Good Life

See the source image

Release date: April 4th 1975 - June 10th 1978 (4 seasons. 30 episodes).

Story: During his 40th birthday, Tom Good (played by the late and great Richard Briers) decides to give up his job and decides to become self sufficient with his wife Barbra Good (played by Felicity Kendal) in their upper class neighbourhood. They start growing vegetables in their front and back gardens, getting animals, and developing their own energy. Much to the annoyance of their next door neighbours Jeremy and Margo Leadbetter (played by Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington).

My thoughts: This is a very funny show. There are many good jokes in this and the characters are good as well. There isn't any bad things that I can find (apart from some moments where the characters act a bit cruel). I would recommend this for any comedy fan.

My score: Three stars.

Film Review: Ghostbusters 2

See the source image

Release date: June 16th 1989.

Story: Five years after the events of the first movie, The ghostbusters have gone out of business due to being sued by every single firm in New York city for property damages. But get back together again after Dana Barrett asks for help when her baby son's tram was seen moving by itself. Which leads to them discovering a river of slime that is flowing under the city. Does this have anything in common with the sudden reappearing of ghosts in the city? And would this also be connected to a creepy painting of a medieval warlord at the Manhattan Museum of Art? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: This a good sequel. Not as good as the first movie but still pretty good. Most of the jokes are ok and the effects are good as well. I would recommend it for all Ghostbuster fans.

My score: Three stars.

TV Review: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

See the source image

Release date: September 20th 1990 - May 10th 1996 (six seasons. 148 episodes).

Story: Will Smith plays a street smart teenager who moves from West Philadelphia to his wealthy aunt and uncle in Bel Air. Where hijinks and comedic events ensue.

My thoughts: This was a product of the 90's. Most of the comedy comes from the clash between Will Smith's character and his uncle and aunt's. This show gave us a catchy opening theme song, a great cast of characters, and the Carlton dance. This is my third favourite American sitcom and it gives me a nostalgia feeling when ever I watch it.

My score: Four stars.

Film Review: Jurassic Park

See the source image

Release date: June 11th 1993

Story: After discovering a way of cloning dinosaurs, a multi billionaire builds a large theme park which the dinosaurs are the main attraction. He then asks a group of people to visit the park before it opens to the public and get their views on it. But things go wrong when a hurricane hits the island where the park is. Which ends up cutting the power to the park... allowing the dinosaurs to escape and start hunting the humans.

My thoughts: This is an amazing movie. Everything about it spells amazement. This is one of Steven Spielberg's greatest movies (alongside E.T, Back to the Future, and Jaws). Originally they were going to use stop motion animation for the dinosaur effects but they changed it to a mixture of both animatronics and cgi. This is something that might become a reality in the future. the idea that we might find a way of cloning dinosaurs and creating a park for everyone to visit them. Anyway this is a amazing movie and I highly recommend it for everyone. But take note that there are some scenes that some people might find scary.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: Lake Placid

See the source image

Release date: July 16th 1999 (US release). March 31st 2000 (UK release).

Story: When a series of deaths occur at a large lake in Maine, a team which is made up of a sheriff, a palaeontologist, a fish and game officer, and a mythology professor is sent to investigate what is going on. And soon they discover that there is an abnormally large saltwater crocodile is the cause behind the deaths. How it becomes a mayhem as they discus if they would either capture it or kill it.

My thoughts: This is a very dull and disappointing movie. I remember watching a tv trailer for this movie on television when I was younger and it frightened me. But then years later I watched it and was utterly disappointed by it. I was expecting a Jaws like movie with a giant crocodile but instead I ended up watching a what could only be described as a parody of a giant monster movie. The climax is also a let down. You would expect an ending similar to Jaws when they finally caught the creature. But no. What we got is a load of "but we need to preserve it!" and "we feel sorry it" even thought it has killed a number of people. And then another crocodile appears out of nowhere and is quickly killed with a grenade rifle (perhaps only to show off the gun). If you want a better crocodile movie then I would recommend Rogue.

My score: One star.

TV Review: Only Fools and Horses

See the source image

Release date: September 8th 1981 - December 25th 2003 (Seven series. 64 episodes. Plus six Christmas specials and a Sports Relief special)

Story: The comedic happenings of brothers Del Boy and Rodney Trotter as they do their trading business in Peckham, London.

My thoughts: This show was voted the best sitcom in Britain and it shows. From the characters and the jokes to the places and situations. But like with One foot in the grave, there are some things in the show which are sometimes dark and not funny. Like when del Boy's son is introduced, Rodney develops a fear for him (especially when he is given the name Damien. Which gives the idea that Rodney thinks that his nephew is the anti-Christ). But apart from that and many others, it is and still is a great comedy and I would recommend it.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: A Nightmare on Elm street

Release date: November 9th 1984.

Story: When her friends begin to have horrifying nightmares of a mysterious man stalking them, Nancy Thompson also begins to have the same nightmares as well and then her friends get killed off one by one. Nancy starts investigating and soon starts fighting for her own survival and sanity, As the dream killer starts stalking her too. Will she be able to survive? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: This movie was the one who brought dream killer Freddy Kruger to audiences across the world. Freddy became a horror icon with his burnt face, red and dark green jumper, he wisecracks, and his glove with blades for fingers. This movie has seven sequels and has been referenced in many things ever since If you haven't seen it yet, then I would recommend it.

My score: Four stars.

Film Review: Friday the 13th

Release date: May 9th 1980.

Story: Many years after it's closer, a lakeside summer camp is being reopened and a group of teenagers are sent to do some finishing touches and to fool around. But the locals are telling them that it is a bad idea since twenty one years ago there were a series of murders that happen at the camp. But the teenagers ignore them and soon they began to get picked off one by one by a unseen killer. Who is the killer? And has this got to do with the killing twenty one years ago? Watch the movie to find out.

My thoughts: This is a great movie. The first in the Friday the 13th series and one of the best slasher killer movies at the time. There was a lot of work put into the effects and they are very good and convincing. Even though this movie didn't created the Slasher Killer genre, it did make them popular enough for them to dominate the horror films of the 80's and 90's. So if you are a horror fan I would recommend this.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: The Rock

Release date: June 7th 1996.

Story: Alcatraz has been taken over by a group of rouge US Force Recon Marines. Who have also stolen fifteen missiles armed with a deadly nerve agent and have also taken eighty one tourists hostage. Their tell the American government that they will fire the missiles at targeted locations in San Francisco unless they get 100 million dollars which their leader will give to the families of fallen soldiers who's deaths were not compensated. It's up to a former SAS captain (Sean Connery) and a chemical weapons expert (Nicolas Cage) to infiltrate the island, take out the rouge marines, and disarm the missiles before the deadline is up. Will they be able to do it in time? Watch the movie and find out.

My thoughts: A great movie. Both the characters and the action are amazing. Apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to play the part of the chemical weapons expert but he turned it down. Overall it is a enjoyable film and I would recommend it for any action film fan.

My score: Four stars.
