Film Review: Invasion Earth (the aliens are here).

Release date: August the twenty second, 1988.

Story: Alien insects (led by a brain with tentacles) secretly take over a small American town's cinema (movie theatre) which they are using as their base of operations in order to take over the planet Earth. Their plan is to hypnotise the townsfolk by making them watch a series of old fashioned B-movies from the fifties and sixties. Meanwhile two teenagers (who had sneaked into the cinema to watch movies without paying) have uncovered the aliens plan and try to defeat them at all cost.

My thoughts: I love this movie! Even though the characters can get annoying at times, it is still a good cheesy movie to watch. It is mainly clips from B-movies like The Blob, The Giant Claw, The Thing from another world, Behemoth the sea monster, and other films like that. If you are a fan of old fashioned monster and alien invasion movies, I would recommend checking this out.

My score: Five stars.

Film Review: Tom & Jerry meet Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.

Story: Basically its just Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory but with Tom and Jerry mixed in.

What do I think?: Despite the large negative reviews this movie has been getting (some even questioning it's existence), I think that this is a good movie. It a good blending of a Tom and Jerry cartoon with the Willy Wonka movie. The original songs are good as well. But the oompa loompa songs are not that good. Also there's a cameo by another well known cartoon that might make you chuckle. The tunnel scene is also less scary than the original. So if you are a fan of both Tom & Jerry and Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, I would recommend you give this a watch.

My score: four and a half stars.

Fanfic Reviews: An Apple Sleep Experiment.

Creator: Magpiepony.

Story: After realising that her family is deep in financial problems, Applejack tries to help sort things out. But things are not that easy with the apple harvest, the fact that Filthy Rich is breathing down their necks (due to the fact that the apple family owes him a lot of Zap Apple jam), and a monstrous heat wave. So A.J visits Twilight Sparkle for help. Twilight then gives her a magic potion that gets rid of any tiredness and would help with the overwork. So one night A.J drinks it and it seems to help. But it turns out that the potion has very horrifying side-effects. Which will effect A.J and everyone around her. What will she do next? Watch and find out.

My thoughts: This is a great scary story. But there is a lot of blood and gore in it and other things that some people might find disturbing. So listener and reader discretion is advised.

My score: four out of five stars,

Fanfic Review: Daughter of Discord.

Story: Years after the events of Bride of Discord, Flutter-shy and Discord are now the happy married and have a young filly named Screwball. Who has inherited her father's powers. But because of her powers, she is bullied and shunned by some of the other ponies in Ponyville (apart from her friends). One day she is playing in the Everfree forest when she comes across a changeling named Mothball. Who as it turns out to be the son of Queen Chrysalis. And it also turns out that Chrysalis and Discord had a bad history together and (also due to the fact that Changelings turn into either a friend or loved one of someone and then drain them of their positive emotions) Discord forbids Screwball to see him again. But Screwball goes behind her father's back and develops a strong friendship with Mothball. Will Discord find out about this? Is this just a scheme by Chrysalis to try and make Discord become what he once was and take over Equestria? Watch Daughter of Discord and find out.

My thoughts: This is a pretty good sequel. To be honest I had seen this first before Bride of Discord but my thoughts are the same. There is a lot more comedy in this than Bride of Discord and there are fewer songs. But what really makes this story good is the next generation of ponies. Rainbow-Dash's twins and younger daughter, Pinkie-pie's triplets, Rarity's daughter, Applejack's adopted son and daughter, Big Mac and Miss Cheerily's daughter, Even Derpy Hooves has a daughter as well (named Dinky). Although Twilight is the only one who isn't a parent (this is explained in the final episode). Like Bride of Discord took elements from Beauty and the Beast, Daughter of Discord had also taken elements from a Disney movie. But this time from The Lion King 2. Like I said before this has fewer songs,  but the one that stands out from the rest is the one that Rarity's sister (I forget her name) sings at the Gala. It is that good. I am looking forward to future series by DisneyFanatic2364 (Maybe one where Discord comes across his brother and more of his kind). If you are a brony then I would recommend giving this a watch.

Fanfic Review: Bride of Discord.

Number of episodes: Ten

Story: This My Little Pony fan fiction takes place in an alternate universe to the popular tv show. In which instead of defeating Discord in season two (and thus returning him into a statue), the main six realise that he had fled seconds before they hit him with their friendship beam. They had no idea where he ran off too but Princess Celestia (the current monarch of Equestria) says not to worry for he won't be returning soon. Years later (after Twilight Sparkle had become Princess Twilight Sparkle of Friendship) Twilight invites her friends to help her organise the Grand Galloping Gala. Flutter-shy it turns out is suffering from a series of bad nightmares about Discord and so (in order to take her mind of it) the others ask her to perform a song for the Gala. But what they did not know is that Discord had secretly returned to Canterlot (the capital of Equestria) and gate crashes the party during Flutter-shy's performance. And (after he does his usual stick of causing chaos) he announces that he has kidnapped Princess Celestia, her sister Luna, and Cadence and would only release them if the ponies accept three demands from him. One of them is for one pony to become his bride of her own free will. And after some thought... Flutter-shy accepts Discords offer. Will she be able to make Discord see the error of his ways? Will Twilight and the others be able to rescue their friend? Watch Bride of Discord to find out.

My thoughts: This is a really good story. I am not a major fan of MLP but I would recommend this for fans and non fans alike. It borrows elements from Beauty and the Beast and Bride of the Lindorm King and mixes it well with this story. Also BigApplePie does an magnificent job at voicing Discord. The songs are pretty good as well. So I again would recommend this for every MLP fan and for non fans alike.

Final score: Ten out of ten stars.

No 10: Troll Bridge.

Summary: A large gang of trolls have taken over the Brooklyn bridge when one of their kind (a small troll with a long nose) escapes into the city. The gang's leader (seen in the photo) tells the Ghostbusters that unless the small troll is returned to them before sundown, they will unleash havoc upon New York city. But things are difficult when the small troll develops a liking to the partying and night life of the city.

No 9: Mr Sandman, Dream me a dream.

Series: 1

Episode: 7

Summary: A rouge sandman starts to make everyone fall asleep in order to bring peace to the world (despite knowing that they would be asleep for 500 years and that whatever they dream becomes alive in the real world). The Ghostbusters try and stop him but one by one they too end up falling asleep until only Winston is left. Can he stop the sandman before it's too late?

No 8: Adventures in Slime and Space.

Series: 2

Episode: 7

Summary: When Slimer gets caught up in one of Egon's experiments, he ends up multiplying into millions of tiny Slimers. And then they escape into the city and start to cause havoc. The Ghostbusters try and catch every single one of them but to no avail. Then one of the Slimers goes through the experiment again and turns blue. Then suddenly all of the little Slimers are suddenly attracted to this one like a magnet and somehow fuse into this one. This at first seems like a happy ending. Until the Ghostbusters then discover that they now have a gigantic blue Slimer on the loose.

No 7: Banshee make a cherry pie.

Series: 2

Episode: 21

Summary: Peter becomes a fan of an Irish rock star who is coming to the States in order to sell her latest album. But the Egon discovers that she is in fact a Banshee and that she is in fact going to use a live performance in order to spread a chaotic spell across the nation. But first they have to save Peter (who has fallen under her spell).

No 6: Chicken he clucked.


Series: 2

Episode: 18

Summary: A man is driven crazy because he lives next door to a K.F.C type restaurant. To the point where he summons a demon in order to rid the world of chickens. The demon doesn't like this but offers the man the ability to make anything he wants appear or disappear (in exchange for the soul of course). The next morning the Ghostbusters learn about the disappearances of large amounts of chickens from around the world and visit the man for questioning (because they saw the man borrowing books on how to perform black magic at the local library). But they too get send to another realm where all of the chickens are sent. But the demon saves them and ask them to help reverse the deal (seeing that he is now a laughing stock in hell because of the deal). Will the Ghostbusters side with the demon and stop the man from getting rid of everything chicken related?

No 5: Citizen Ghost.

Episode: 11

Summary: A news interviewer interviews Peter on how Slimer became a member of the team if he is a ghost. Peter then tells the story on how Slimer stayed behind after the containment unit had exploded (see the first Ghostbusters film) and also how he helped them take on some evil doppelgangers that were created with their old uniforms which were contaminated by the remains of Gozor and The stay puffed marshmallow man.

No 4: The Boogieman cometh.


Series: 1

Episode: 6

Summary: Two children ask the Ghostbusters for help when the Boogieman starts tormenting them. They agree but it then turns out that Egon has had a previous encounter with the Boogieman from his own childhood and has to both save the children and to stand up to his own fears.

No 3: Ghost Busted.


Series: 2

Episode: 15

Summary: When there hasn't been a job for months, the Ghostbusters find themselves with financial problems. So they decided to get some jobs to past the time. But when even those job didn't help, they decided to become crime fighters instead and then modify their equipment in order to catch crooks. But they run into trouble with a local crime lord when they become too successful.

No 2: Elementary my dear Winston.

Episode: 4

Summary: The spirits of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson arrive in New York city to locate and capture Professor Moriarty (plus the hound of the Baskervilles). But things get a little harder when the Ghostbusters show up and capture the wrong ghosts.

No 1: When Halloween was forever.

Episode: 8

Summary: Ghost have been on the increase when Halloween comes around. And things don't get better when Samhain (the spirit of Halloween) himself is released from a supernatural prison and sets out to make sure that Halloween remains forever.
