What if pokemon were real?

Everyone who is a pokemon fan has always wondered what life would be like if pokemon were real. And I also have been wondering about this. Riding on the back of a Charizard, seeking out a Haunter in a abandoned house, fishing for Magikarp, battling other trainers with a Pikachu, the list goes on. But then I have discovered a lot of downsides of having pokemons in the real life. So theses are the pros and cons of having pokemon in the real world.

Pro 1: The different varieties.
Pokemon come in all different shapes and sizes. From mammals, reptiles, and fish to insects, plants and ghosts. You'll have a lot of different varieties of these creatures to choose from. Also this would give people the opportunity to collect them.

Con 1: Earth's other animals.
Our world has a lot of animals. Monkeys, cows, horses, fish, dogs, cats, and many others. I feel that if pokemon were real, then they would be confrontation with our own animals. Ok there might be times when they could get on well with each other (cows and tauros for example). But then some might end up fighting for space. This would be disastrous.

Pro 2: They would be popular.
I would happy to have a Raichu, a Muk, a Gengar, a Dragonite, a Primeape, and a Lapras on my team as we battle other trainers and gym leaders. And many other people would be happy to have their favourite pokemons with them. And you might have collectors who want to have at least one of every type. You could have zoos, safari parks, farms, ranches, and even circuses.

Con 2: How to house them and move them.
I know that in the games and in the anime that you house them in pokeballs. But then what if you want to have a farm or a pokemon ranch? Then you have the problem of housing them. It would be ok for smaller pokemons like the starters but what about the likes of big pokemons like Onyxs, Rhydon, or Steelix? Then you have to build large barns for them. And then comes the problem of transporting them. Again there are the pokeballs. But then again you have to build special animal transportation carriages for them.

Pro 3: The Battles.
Pokemon are (sadly) used to battle each other in battle tournaments. Usually there is just one trainer against another trainer but most of the time you get things like world cup tournaments where hundreds of trainers battle each other from all over the world. If there are pokemon in the real world then you'll have people battling each other. There have to be some rules to this. First of all you can not battle in public airers (market squares, housing states, streets where there are major shops) and you have to have a judge on hand incase of cheating or misuse of the pokemon that are battling. You could even get gyms and pokemon centres popping up everywhere. Also people would build their own gyms and Pokemon centres as well.

Con 3: Animal rights movements.
There are laws on the mistreatment of animals. Especially those who have been forced to fight each other. And there are many organisations to inforce those laws. How would they reacted if pokemon were real. People like PETA would have a field day prosecuting trainers and gym leaders for a number of reasons.

Pro 4: The trainers.
You would get loads of people who would like to travel the world and battle/collect pokemons. It would be something different to do. Getting people out in the fresh air, meeting new friends, and getting some exercise.

Con 4: The trainers.
In the pokemon world, those who reach the age of ten are legally aloud to start traveling with pokemons. This would not be aloud in our world. Sending ten year olds out into the world on their own with dangerous creatures would not be aloud. It would be wise for them to finish school and then take a special collage course in how to handle pokemon. And then give the person a pokemon insurance, some extra stuff, and then send them out. Better safe then sorry.

Pro 5: They could be more than useful.
Pokemon could be more useful apart from battling. Electric type could power buildings, water types could help firefighters and life guards, plant types could look after the environment, and so on. Although they will need rest and refreshment now and then.

Con 5: The down side of usefulness.
Sadly there is always a downside with everything. Pokemon could be useful for those who want to help others. But what about those who don't. Terrorists and criminals would also use pokemons to their advantages. Terror attacks would have more horrifying results. We could have our own Team Rocket, Team Plasma, Team Galatica, or Team Flare on our hands.

Results:
Well it would be nice if pokemon were real. I would have so much fun with them. But then again I have to take into account the downsides of them being as well. But what do you think? Leave a comment below and tell me what do you think about pokemon being real?
